Inspection How come ProEx has to report just minor instances of termite activity? ProEx is paid by the seller for inspections and services rendered, however, we work for the buyer and the mortgage company certifying the home is CLEAR of termites, not mostly clear. You wouldn't want to buy a house that had SOME termites in it, and you shouldn't expect to sell one without the condition being addressed. Extermination How come we have to leave the house when you fumigate? The chemicals used are fatal to humans and termites. The levels of chemical must dissipate before reentry of a home. That is why ALL animals must be REMOVED as well. ProEx carefully applies and monitors progress of the chemical introduced until the job is completed properly. We provide the homeowner with a detailed preparation list. Basically, people, plants and pets must all be removed along with any edible items that are not in a sealed metal or glass container. Anything you don't want exposed should be removed or sealed in place. HOWEVER, wood furniture and furniture with wooden framing MUST be exposed because termites can inhabit it! You DON'T WANT to have a reinfestation due to this oversight. Large Structures Can you fumigate my business like you did my house? Yes. Any structures can be fumigated in a similar manner. No structure is too large for fumigation. For clients, such as the University of California, we use both localized and structural fumigation at their buildings and laboratories. | Treatment Methods Why don't you just treat large areas locally? In many cases you can't do that safely. While it may be efficient for the exterminator, it is not wise. Take for example restaurants, hospitals, labs, and other areas where food, humans and animals are present. Great care must be taken to insure that we do not expose preparation and kennel areas to toxins. We use specialized treatment for sensitive areas. In general, we might treat crack and crevices only in floor expansion joints. The only way to identify and customize the treatment you need is to conduct a thorough inspection. It is also vitally important that ProEx understands the activity conducted at the site so we may avoid any unnecessary exposure to the chemicals used. Someone told me that you all use the same equipment and it doesn't matter. Is this true? No. While some companies may opt for the cheapest solution, in many cases it DOES NOT work well. For the case of ALL localized treatment ProEx uses a special canister gun called a "Whitmire spray gun." In addition, we use ONLY non-oil/non-water based chemical injected by INERT propellant. See the comparison of our materials with theirs in the SERVICES SECTION of this website. This type of method is more economical in the long run because the concentrated chemical reaches into the cracks, crevices, and other areas treated without loss where it can gasify and expand INSIDE walls and floors where it is needed. Differences Between Termites How do I know which kind of termites I may have? ProEx inspects for just that reason. You may have none, either or both types. To learn more about the termites themselves, please hit the button labeled TERMITES. |
